Privacy & Security
OffReco records, transcribes, and labels speakers entirely on your Mac. Neither your audio nor your transcripts are ever sent to a server.
Transcription works in Airplane mode (Wi-Fi off) — the clearest proof that it’s fully local.
What is never sent
- Recorded audio (mic / system audio)
- Transcripts & speaker labels (text, subtitles, JSON)
- Meeting titles, attendees, calendar contents
- File paths, tokens, email addresses
What stays only on your device
- Recordings & transcripts (output + temp folders)
- Meeting metadata (time, trigger type, calendar title if linked)
- Your HuggingFace token, if provided — encrypted in the macOS Keychain
The only times it goes online
- Downloading transcription / diarization models (HuggingFace)
- Authenticating your token
- Installing Python libraries during first-time setup (PyPI)
- Composing feedback email — only when you choose to
Anonymous usage stats (off by default, opt-in)
- Nothing is collected by default. Only if you turn it on, anonymous events (counts, success/failure) are sent — never your content.
- No audio, transcripts, or meeting titles. The identifier is a random ID unrelated to billing or hardware, and you can turn it off anytime.
